Job Description

Salary: $75,000 to $125,000

Who Were Looking For

Quantum Space is redefining mobility and maneuverability in space. Our high-mobility spacecraft platforms support national security, civil, and commercial missions with unmatched flexibility and propulsion capability. We build fast and iterate quickly.

We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer with 46 years of professional experience to join our team. This is an early-to-mid career position for an engineer eager to take ownership of complex projects from design to build and test. You will work in a fast-paced, high-performance environment, collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and test teams to deliver innovative solutions for advanced hardware systems.

This role requires strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (Creo) and PLM systems (Windchill), along with hands-on mechanical build experience, a background in testing components in demanding environments, and the ability to author work orders and manufacturing instructions using modern instruction management software.

Where Youll Make an Impact

  • Design, model, and document complex mechanical systems, assemblies, and components using Creo.
  • Manage CAD data and configuration using Windchill.
  • Develop engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs that meet ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
  • Author and release work orders and detailed manufacturing instructions to support efficient production.
  • Perform design trade studies, tolerance analysis, and material selection for demanding applications.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs are producible, cost-effective, and high quality.
  • Participate in prototype builds, assembly, and troubleshooting of mechanical hardware.
  • Support and execute component- and system-level testing, including environmental testing (thermal, vibration, shock, etc.).
  • Work cross-functionally with engineers from multiple disciplines to integrate mechanical systems into larger assemblies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design, test, and build processes.

What It Takes

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (M.S. preferred).
  • 46 years of industry experience in mechanical design, analysis, and testing.
  • Strong proficiency with Creo (3D CAD) and Windchill (PDM/PLM).
  • Proven experience creating and releasing complex mechanical models, drawings, and assemblies.
  • Experience authoring work orders and manufacturing instructions.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and mechanical drafting standards.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical hardware builds, assembly, and integration.
  • Experience supporting or executing mechanical/environmental testing (thermal, vibration, shock, or structural).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to work both independently and in teams.

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Experience with aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability industries.
  • Experience with test planning, instrumentation, and data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of FEA tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN, or Creo Simulate).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods such as machining, composites, or additive manufacturing.

What Youll Get

  • Innovation The opportunity to develop next-generation spacecraft.
  • Impact See your work fly on real spacecraft missions.
  • Compensation Competitive salary, equity, and top-tier benefits: medical, dental, vision, generous leave, FSA, 401(k) matching, and equity sharing.

Additional Requirements

To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Apply now. Join us in building the next generation of spacecraft.
