Oak Dermatology is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate MOHS Surgical Assistant to join our surgical dermatology team. This role supports our MOHS surgeon during skin cancer surgeries and reconstructive procedures, ensuring an exceptional patient experience from pre-op to post-op. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, excellent bedside manner, and thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical suite and maintain sterile field according to established protocols.
• Assist the MOHS surgeon during all stages of the procedure, including tissue processing, mapping, inking, and slide preparation.
• Handle and label surgical specimens accurately; assist with documentation and tracking.
• Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
• Provide pre- and post-operative care instructions to patients.
• Document patient care accurately in EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system.
• Monitor inventory of surgical and laboratory supplies and communicate needs to the clinical lead or manager.
• Support the flow of the surgical schedule to ensure efficiency and timeliness.
• Uphold the highest standards of patient safety, confidentiality, and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Nurse (RN) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA) or Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
• Previous experience assisting in MOHS or dermatologic surgery strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instruments, and dermatologic procedures.
• Excellent communication and patient care skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
• EMR experience preferred (EMA or similar systems).
