Job Summary
The position of Instructional Specialist-Aviation Maintenance serves as a faculty member for the FAA
Aviation Maintenance Technology program. In individual reports to the Dean of Technical, Workforce
and Community Education programs. All lab courses are held at the New River Community and
Technical Hanger location at the Raleigh County Airport, Beaver, WV. The Instructional Specialist Aviation Maintenance will teach a full-time instructional load per semester, advise students and
engage community and College activities. This is a 12-month, exempt, faculty position.
Nature of Work
Specific areas of accountability:
Conduct classroom lectures using approved lesson plans.
Ensure students successfully complete shop/laboratory assignments.
Manage all required shop projects and maintain shop inventory and condition of training
equipment and supplies.
Submit accurate grade and attendance information within established time periods.
Maintain and complete on-the-job and formalized training programs to enhance job
performance.
Engage with institutional colleagues related to committee and faculty development.
Participate in all mandatory institutional meetings and graduations.
Adheres to and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws.
Abides by all purchasing rules and provisions and reports/balances account as required or
directed.
Adheres to all institutional policies and guidelines, including the provisions of the faculty and
employee handbooks.
Adhere to and comply with the relevant provisions of the WV State Ethics Acts.
Adheres to all safety rules and provisions; reports any personal accidents/injuries or
accidents/injuries of assigned staff to HR by end of the workday or work shift, and completes
all required performance evaluations timely, completely, and accurately.
Adheres to all FAA PART 147 regulations
Effective classroom management and ability to facilitate discussions with diverse individuals
and groups of varying sizes.
Support the Program Director responsibilities as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities
Strong Planning and Execution skills to include ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and
schedule business engagement activities to meet department goals and deadlines.
Effective Communication skills to include Active listening skills leading to appropriate sales
techniques and oral and written correspondence and presentations.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and maintain confidentiality.
Proficiency using computers and related multiple software applications, including MS Office
and Google products.
Self-Directed, ability to work independently while following directives from college
leadership.
Education
Associate's degree - Relevant field of study - Required
Bachelor's degree - Preferred
Experience
In addition to the knowledge/education, the following related work experience is typically required, for this position. An equivalent combination of education and recent, related experience may be acceptable.
10 years' experience - Verifiable Aviation Maintenance Field Experience; 3 years of experience must meet the FAA standards; part 147 standards. - Required
1 year - Classroom facilitation: experience with remote classroom technology such as Zoom. - Preferred
License or Certification
FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certification - Required
Valid Driver's License - Required
