Excellence Community Schools (ECS) is a Charter Management Organization (CMO) supporting schools in the Bronx, NY and Stamford, CT. Our programs are based on a proven, nationally recognized model, which originated in our flagship school, the Bronx Charter School for Excellence, a National Blue Ribbon School.

Our schools prepare young scholars to compete for admission to and succeed in top public, private, and parochial high schools by cultivating their intellectual, artistic, social, emotional, and ethical development. We accomplish this by offering a challenging and rigorous academic curriculum, which at the earliest of grades has an eye towards college preparation. To achieve this, our schools create a supportive and caring environment that at all times has high expectations of all students. Our engaging and rigorous approach to educating our scholars is implemented by a collaborative team of teachers.

Job overview:
Curriculum and Assessment Developers (CAD) design and refine all curriculum material for the network. They work closely with instructional coaches and school leaders to ensure effective teaching and learning at each school. Curriculum and Assessment Developers are responsible for creating and refining pacing calendars, unit plans, lesson plans and assessments. We have openings for the following:

Elementary School Science
Middle School Science
Responsibilities Include:
Design high-quality pacing calendars, unit plans, and lesson plans.
Design high-quality assessments for the district.
Create all necessary lesson materials, lesson plans, and curricula for units of study.
Ensure that instructional plans are aligned with NGL standards, school-wide performance goals, and performance expectations.
Meet regularly with school leadership and instructional coaches to discuss curriculum needs and implementation strategies.
Evaluate and recommend new research-based instructional materials.
Develop, monitor, and implement assessment plans.
Facilitate and lead professional development offerings that align with district and school improvement efforts.
Analyze network trends and create plans accordingly.
Analyze student data, identify instructional gaps, and provide research-based instructional strategies to improve student learning.
Monitor the effectiveness of the written curriculum using achievement data, teacher feedback, and classroom observations and modify as needed.
Work closely with the managing director, leaders, and operation team to order curriculum-related material.
Other related tasks contingent upon district needs
Qualifications
New York State Teaching Certification is required.
M.A. in Education or related field required.
Previous experience in curriculum development and data assessment design.
Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience is required.
Record of accomplishment and achievement required.
Experience with and commitment to improving the quality of urban education, specifically for scholars who have been traditionally underserved required.
Note: This is a 12-month position.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range ($70,000-$90,000)
